Medical Students

Duke Dermatology offers visiting students the opportunity to participate in a four-week clinical elective. During the course of the month, students spend two weeks in outpatient clinics, one week on the Duke in-patient consults service, and one week at the Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center (DVAMC).  Students interested in Pediatric Dermatology are scheduled in September during which time they will be offered dedicated clinic time with our pediatric dermatologists Drs. Bellet and Prose.

Fourth year students interested in dermatology should apply early, as spaces are limited.  Please submit the following information for consideration:

  1. A brief statement describing potential areas of interest in dermatology (e.g. contact dermatitis, autoimmune disease, etc.) and professional goals. Focused clinic and project time with a specific attending may be available upon request. Briefly describe your interest in Duke Dermatology and how a rotation at Duke will contribute to your long-term career goals. Please note that students interested in Pediatric Dermatology are preferentially scheduled for September. If the area of interest in Pediatric Dermatology this should be noted in the statement.
  2. Medical school transcript
  3. A copy of your official USMLE board examination scores
  4. Please indicated your preferred date(s).

Submit the above information to VSAS.

Applications will be reviewed May 1st.  Applications submitted after May 1st will be considered only if positions remain available.
