Kristy Averette
Kristy Averette is the Research Practice Manager (RPM) for the Dermatology and Pathology CRU. Kristy has worked at Duke since 2007. While initially working in a translational research lab on campus, she has held several progressive positions within Duke Health over the years. Ten years of her research career was spent in the Department of Neurosurgery before transferring to the Department of Medicine CRU leadership team. She also spent five years as a bedside nurse in Duke University Hospital on unit 7800, a pulmonary transplant step-down unit. She joined the Dermatology CRU as RPM in March of 2020 and has been a member of the Duke University Health System Institutional Review Board since the beginning of 2022.

Jessica Oxendine
Jessica Oxendine is the Regulatory Coordinator for the Dermatology CRU and also serves as a member of the Duke University Health System Institutional Review Board. Jessica has been with Duke since 2013. She has worked in Duke Primary Care and Duke Orthopedics as a Medical Assistant. While she was in Primary Care, she played a large role in the implementation of Transforming Primary Care Collaborative (TPCC) in her clinic. During her time in Orthopedics, she obtained her CMA III and served as the clinical team lead for 4 years before transferring to the Dermatology CRU. She also spent 9 years caring for individuals with developmental disabilities prior to joining Duke.

Erin Campo
Erin Campo is a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator (CRNC) for the Dermatology and Pathology CRU. Erin came to Duke in April of 2022, after working seven years in Neurology research at a private practice. Erin began in research as a clinical trial assistant at Raleigh Neurology and progressed to a research coordinator while attending nursing school at Wake Tech. Erin’s path to research was circuitous, as she has a Master’s Degree in History from NCSU and managed museums and historic sites for 10 years before returning to school to pursue nursing.

Connor Whatley
Connor Whatley is a CRNC for the Dermatology CRU. Connor has been with Duke since 2020 and a part of Dermatology since 2021. Her clinical experience includes critical care, obstetrics and gynecology, endoscopy, and family medicine. Her passion for research began while she was still in nursing school interning as a student researcher at Howard University.

Emma Jackson
Emma Jackson is a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) for the Dermatology CRU. Emma has been with Duke since 2017. She has worked for Duke Orthopedics as an Athletic Trainer and Orthopedic Technologist. While she was in Orthopedics, she played a large role in teaching healthcare providers and staff throughout Duke’s Orthopedic department the proper application of casting and splinting. She played an integral role in the treatment of various orthopedic injuries throughout the clinic, and provided excellent patient care. Prior to her time with Duke Orthopedics, Emma also spent time working as an Athletic Trainer for Granite State Physical Therapy where she provided preventative, therapeutic, rehabilitative and emergency care to student athletes throughout the Concord New Hampshire area.
