July 2026 Streicher Awards go to Rachel Clendenin and Cynthia Herron

Congratulations to Rachel Clendenin, clinical nurse II at Wakefield Mohs, and Cynthia Herron, certified medical assistant at Duke South Durham, on receiving the July 2026 Streicher Awards.

The Streicher Award was established in 2004 to honor former Department of Dermatology business manager Mike Streicher, who was committed to providing exceptional service to Duke Dermatology patients, providers, and the support team. It’s given twice a year to staff members who demonstrate a range of positive qualities and behaviors such as respect for others, initiative, flexibility, and collaboration.

Rachel’s nominator noted, “Rachel consistently demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and dedication. She is highly dependable and routinely stays late when needed to ensure patients receive exceptional care and clinic operations continue running smoothly. She balances patient needs with operational workflow in a way that strongly supports the success of the clinic while maintaining a calm and positive presence during busy or changing situations … She also handles sensitive patient situations with discretion, empathy, and respect, helping patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their experience.”

And one of Cynthia’s nominators shared, “Cynthia is a role model for productivity. She does not sit at her desk idly … Seeing Cynthia interact with her patients is a joy. She has developed rapport and makes her patients smile and laugh. They know her and respect her. In addition, Cynthia is often seen at the end of the day, putting up decorations to surprise a co-worker who has a birthday the next day … She just does her job quietly and efficiently and spreads joy around the clinic.”

We deeply appreciate the excellent service Rachel and Cynthia provide every day to their patients and colleagues.
