Why did you choose Duke for residency training?

I was drawn to the opportunity to apply for the diversity and community engagement residency position, which I ended up matching into. We have ample opportunities for community engagement and get to see a diverse patient population every day. I loved knowing that monthly at the Lincoln Community Health Center I would see mostly Spanish speaking patients that would otherwise not be able to access dermatologic care. I knew I would get comprehensive training at Duke and the chance to explore many specialty clinics. I got a great feeling from the people I met on interview day and felt like I would be working in a supportive environment. Location was also important for me, and the 3-hour direct flight home to Puerto Rico is a great bonus.
